Project Runway Canada – Passion For Fashion

Hmmm…so, Lucian was spotted at L’Oreal Fashion Week…does that even mean anything, though?

Lucian

Project Runway Canada had a by-invitation-only show on Monday night — and I really, really, really hope that it was Lucian who won.

This week, the designers had to come up with a design for the Bratz Doll line — and you know what absolutely did not make sense to me?

If the whole point is to design a dress for a Bratz doll, then why didn’t the designer who excuted the best dress on the actual doll chosen as the winner?

I didn’t really care for the slow, deliberate way that the guest judge spoke — it just made her seem somewhat indecisive and like she didn’t really know what the hell she was talking about.

I didn’t really get why they chose Shernett’s “Victorian” design as the winner, either — it didn’t look particularly Victorian and though interesting, I still think that they should have chosen what looked best on the doll and not what looked best on the live model.

The one thing I just can’t get over is how Stephen — easily one of my favourites simply because he’s funny and not so much because I like the things that he’s designed — actually made a “camping” outfit when he’s never even been camping before. I mean, c’mon! You’ve got to start taking these challenges a little more seriously.

People I don’t care for:

Megan — I loved her Chinese-inspired outfit, but I didn’t care for the constant waterworks and the bizzaro theory she had of how she should quit so she could preserve her confidence. Say what? Plus, I cannot stand waterworks on anyone — I prefer crying in the privacy of my own home where nobody can see.

Thought mentor Brian Bailey did a really good job of trying to instill a bit of confidence in her, though. So…kudos to him.

Biddell — Ugh. That’s all I can think of for this arrogant prick. Didn’t think his design was particularly Bratz doll-like and I sure as hell wouldn’t have bought that design if I had a daughter. Or for myself.

Anyway, they actually all have blogs on the Project Runway Canada site — which is pretty cool.
